"Read as you taste fruit or savor wine, or enjoy friendship, love or life."
~ George Holbrook Jackson
This spring, I was given War & Peace for my birthday. I enjoyed every beautifully written word and mused at how much I would enjoy eating Russian food for supper on the evenings I was devouring the chapters. The idea of matching a wonderful book with an equally wonderful meal was born.
A book club comprised of six gatherings.
At the initial meeting we will throw a cocktail party to introduce the first book. We will also choose a book captain. The captain's responsibility will be to devise thought-provoking questions about the book that we can discuss at our next meeting. Book captains will be different for each book.
The second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth sessions will focus on a conversation around the book while we enjoy our specifically themed meal.
The books and menus will be selected by me (but I give you my promise that War & Peace will not be among the five). Not all of the books chosen will be food-oriented, but each eclectic choice will be an excellent read with a meal directly inspired by the heart of each book.
Cost of membership is $475.00 and includes 5 memorable books, 5 unforgettable meals, and one superb cocktail reception. The club will be intimate, consisting of a maximum of 14 members.
Please note that dates are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend any of the club's events, you may give your spot to a friend.
